Alba Lozano 

Alba Lozano studied Film Directing at ECPV and UDD (Chile), while studying Audiovisual Communication at UPV/EHU. Her final degree project, Plunge (2018), was part of the Zinemakumeak Gara! short film showcase. She studied a Master’s Degree in Directing at ESCAC and was awarded a scholarship for the Master’s Degree in Documentary Film at the same school two years later.

In 2022, she wrote and directed ‘Non Grata’, which was selected for more than 50 festivals and won a dozen awards, including Best Fiction Short Film at the Alicante Festival 2022. She also participated in the Ibero-American Short Film Competition of Radiotelevisión Española.

In her stories, Alba immerses herself in naturalism, exploring conflicts that move her and carrying them out by seeking synergy between professional and non-professional actors. Her latest short film, Utländsk (2024), is part of the Kimuak programme and is currently in distribution. It has been selected for more than 60 festivals and has won around fifteen awards, including Best Short Film at the FICC53, HUHEZINEMA, El Meteorito, Santurzine and Arancine festivals.

Alba has combined writing and creating projects with her work as director of the second units for the series Odol Ilargia and Itxaso. She also teaches acting direction and scriptwriting at the ECPV film school.

She is currently writing her first feature film, ‘Utländsk,’ and producing her next short film, ‘Aho Beltza,’ selected for the Geuretik Sortuak programme at Udalbiltza.
