Two week international residency

Two Week International Residency is a programme promoted by Etxe Betea that aims to host an international filmmaker for two weeks to develop a feature film project. The residency takes place in Bilbao and offers a working environment, professional and feminist support, and suitable conditions for the creative advancement of the author and her work.
In addition to this residency, ETXE BETEA carries out various international exchanges with other residencies.
Since 2024, an exchange has been taking place with the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Artist Alkisti Efthymiou developed her project Your delicate friend with the mentorship of director Alba Cros at Etxe Betea, while filmmakers Mikele Landa and María Herrera were selected to go to the Evia Film Project in Greece with their respective feature film projects.
In 2025, an exchange will take place with the Neela Asmaan artist residency located in the Shigar Valley in Pakistan. This residency is promoted by filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Tamara Lucarini, with her project La gotera, was the filmmaker selected to go to Pakistan for two weeks, and a Pakistani artist will develop her project at Etxe Betea for two weeks in 2026.








In the first edition of Two Week International Residency held at Etxe Betea, Bilbao, the selected filmmaker was Mariú Lombardi with her project Menstruopia. Her mentor was Ana Hormaetxea.
Two Week International Residency offers:
- Two weeks of accommodation at Etxe Betea.
- A dedicated workspace within Etxe Betea for the duration of the residency.
- Mentorship sessions with a professional woman from the film industry.
